NOIR
Noir is a wireless doorbell set consisting of both the receiver and transmitter that is heavily inspired by faceted surfacing techniques throughout its design process.
Noir’s form was conceived using a combination of leading lines and stark edges of facets to emphasise the button's placement further.
Users can opt to switch out coloured segments to suit their aesthetic which creates a more economical manufacturing process, thus, lowering the cost and amount of materials used.
Designing For Manufacturing
A study on doorbell components like the plastic housing, buttons and panels was done to understand how the housing interacts with the electrical components to gauge the transmitter and receiver's rough dimensions and contact points.
Multiple iterations of CAD models were done in Rhinoceros to form smoother transitions between surfaces. Additional ribs and bosses were made to increase the overall structural rigidity and aid in assembly before printing a high fidelity model.
