Once Upon a Time
An impromptu morning documentation journey.
Greeted by a beautiful sunrise while carrying an impulsively loaded camera with Portra 400, I walked along the roads of my neighbourhood once again, seeking new scenarios to document without any expectations.
I soon arrive at an open field behind the Secondary school I used to study at, only to be joyfully approached by an owner’s dog…running towards me. My half-awake mind had just turned into one filled with adrenaline. I’ve never been comfortable with dogs. Neither was I good at initiating conversations with strangers. The scenario, albeit unpleasant, was enough for me to ask for a picture before they left. I was hesitant at first. Singaporeans are rarely fond of getting their pictures taken by strangers for obvious reasons, but these owners and their obedient pets were more than willing to have a photo taken by me, a total stranger they’ve just met.
My shoot was abruptly interrupted when I ironically slipped on a tactile pavement right after I left the field, bruising my knee in the process. Regardless, I decided to press on and finish the roll since I was in walking distance from where I live…and damn was I pleased when I got these developed and scanned.
